The Navel Piercing
~
The Navel Piercing is still the most popular piercing at ADRENALIN Body Piercing, and it is done on both men and women. The navel piercing is usually done through the little flap of skin on the top side of the navel although some people prefer the piercing to be done at the bottom, side or at an angle. It is also a possible to get more then one navel piercing but it is recommended to get one at a time and wait till the last one has fully healed before getting extra navel piercings.
Only the "Inny" type of navels can be pierced, but there are some odd shaped navels out there so if you are unsure whether your navel can be pierced then ask your Body Piercer if yours is ok or not.

Healing Time
The Healing time for the Navel Piercing varies greatly from person to person but is usually around 3-6 months if a Titanium ring is used and often a little longer if 18ct gold is chosen. Some people heal quicker than this but for some people the navel may take 12 months or longer to heal. Sometimes navel piercing will not heal no matter what jewellery is used, there can be many reasons for this. Make sure your piercer gives you detailed "Aftercare" instructions on exactly how to care for your new piercings. This can make a huge difference to whether your piercing will heal up quickly and stay where positioned or to not heal and/or migrate off centre and out of the skin.

Navel Piercing Jewellery
The best and most popular jewellery for the new navel piercing is the Titanium Bead ring (sometimes referred to as the Captive Bead Ring or CBR). This type of jewellery will enable easy cleaning of the piercing and no irregular edges or joins can be rotated accidentally through the piercing. Any irregular surface on your jewellery can carry bacteria or aggravate the piercing when the jewellery is rotated through the piercing during cleaning. The bead ring is relatively cheap and the bead can easily be changed to wear other beads or to put navel charms onto the ring.
Bead rings made from Titanium usually work extremely well for navel piercings and 18ct solid Gold usually works fine too with most people, but not for all. At ADRENALIN Body Piercing we also stock Stainless Steel jewellery but we highly recommend the use of Titanium jewellery as opposed to Stainless Steel because Stainless Steel jewellery contains Nickel which some people are sensitive to.
The type of the jewellery you choose plays a big part in the healing process so make sure you always get pierced with top quality jewellery of appropriate size. If the wrong size or thickness of jewellery is used it can greatly increase the chance of the ring migrating down or out of the navel. If you do everything right with the navel piercing they usually work fine but if you take shortcuts and use not the very best jewellery or care for it wrong then you probably will have probelms. Remember go to the best Body Piercing specialist you can find.
