The Nostril Piercing

The nostril piercing should never be performed with an ear piercing gun. When the piercing is performed at ADRENALIN with a hollow surgical needle you can immediately put in proper nostril jewellery (i.e. Nostril Screws) or body jewellery rings which both come in a wide variety of styles and metals. Ear piercing studs should not be used as the parallel part that goes through the piercing is usually too short, and since the butterfly clip cannot be put onto the back of the stud then the stud can fall out, especially when showering, cleaning or sleeping. Ear piercing studs are designed for ear lobes and are straight and have a sharp point at the end. Only use specific nostril jewellery for nostril piercings as they are more secure and designed specifically for the nostril.

At ADRENALIN we will not use ear piercing guns on anything. Ear Piercing guns that are commonly available cannot be sterilised in an autoclave because inside parts can melt or rust. Piercings done with a sharp hollow surgical needle will normally heal much faster, have much less chance of causing lumps on or around the piercing and don't throb afterwards.

Note: Autoclaving is the only effective way to kill viruses and diseases such as Hepatitis and HIV.

Healing Time

The Healing time for the Nostril Piercing varies greatly from person to person but is usually around 8-12 weeks.

Nostril Jewellery

If you choose a ring for the initial piercing you will find it easier to clean the piercing and it won't matter so much if it swells a little. Many people, however, choose the nostril screw for the initial piercing and heal up just as well as with a ring, providing that the stud is long enough to allow thorough cleaning. The Nostril Screws used at ADRENALIN are excellent quality and are very small which makes them extremely popular with people who prefer a more subtle look or need to conceal their piercing.

Nostril Screws are made from Niobium, Surgical Steel, Titanium or 18ct Gold.

Once your piercing has fully healed you can change your jewellery whenever you wish. But to avoid complications you should always wear good quality body jewellery of appropriate size and thickness.
