The Septum Piercing
The Septum Piercing goes through the thin web of skin just below the central nasal cartilage. It can be a tricky piercing to perform on some people as some noses don't have much of a gap where the piercing is done.
Healing Time
The Healing time for the Septum Piercing varies greatly from person to person but is usually around 6-12 weeks.
Septum Piercing Jewellery
Jewellery that is appropriate for the Septum piercing includes Bead rings, Continuous rings, Circular Barbells, Septum Retainers and Septum Spikes.
A Circular Barbell ring would be the preferable choice for the initial piercing as it is quite versatile and depending on ring size chosen may be flipped up inside the nostril to hide the jewellery. Some people need to hide the piercing a lot or at least make it less obvious and these people often choose the septum retainer. (a small staple shaped piece of jewellery which doesn't extend out of the nose. If you choose a ring for the initial piercing you will find it easier to clean the piercing. Many people, however, choose the Septum retainer jewellery for the initial piercing and heal up just as well as with a ring.
The type of the jewellery you choose plays a big part in the healing process so make sure you always get pierced with top quality jewellery.
